Probe sought into 'irregularities' in Bajaur appointments.

BAJAUR -- Activists of an association of local youth continued their protest sit-in here on the fifth consecutive day on Monday against alleged irregularities in appointments recently made in various government departments.

Scores of members of Youth of Bajaur from different parts of the Bajaur district participated in the protest camp set up outside the main gate of the Civil Colony, Khar, where mostly government officers live.

Talking to reporters, the association's chairman Rehan Zeb Khan alleged that heads of various government departments, including health, education, forest, wildlife and agriculture, were involved in illegal appointments in their departments. He alleged that departments' heads were also involved in corruption.

Mr Zeb alleged merit and transparency were violated in the appointments. He said a large number of candidates applied for different posts, but only those were selected who either belonged to influential families or were recommended...
