PRA services sales tax collection falls by 36pc.

LAHORE -- The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) collection of Rs107 billion sales tax on services during the last fiscal year fell short by 36pc of the budget target of Rs166.5bn.

The collection was, however, slightly higher than the revised target of Rs105bn, according to the PRA.

The PRA collection peaked to Rs109.4bn in the fiscal 2017-18 before falling to Rs94.1bn in FY 2018-19, the first year of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government in Punjab. The government is targeting Rs125bn in PRA taxes this year. However, few expect it to achieve the target given the Covid-19 conditions.
