PPP resolution raps bar to Gilani's travel abroad.

LAHORE: The PPP has moved the Punjab Assembly against barring former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani from going abroad.

A resolution submitted by parliamentary leader Hassan Murtaza and Makhdoom Usman Mahmood with the assembly secretariat here on Thursday stated that the House condemns the act of impeding former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani from going abroad. It said the PTI government had gone so far in political victimisation that it's begun using undemocratic tactics for the purpose.

It said Mr Gilani had earlier visited Nepal to attend the Asia-Pacific Conference there around one and a half months ago and if his name was on the Exit Control List, then why the government didn't stop him then.

The resolution said Mr Gilani is repeatedly appearing before courts to defend the allegations being leveled against him and barring him from going abroad despite this fact was open violation of the basic human rights.

It demanded that Prime Minister Imran Khan tender his apology to the nation for the rights violation.
