Porhiyat Muzahemat Tehreek calls for new social contract.

HYDERABAD -- Leaders of newly-formed left-wing party, Porhiyat Muzahemat Tehreek, have called for signing of a new social contract between federation and various nations, who should have right to self determination.

They expressed concern over present crisis confronting the country and said it was for the first time in 75 years history of Pakistan that the crisis had attained multidimensional proportions.

Masroor Shah, Nisar Leghari, Dost Ali Leghari and others said at a news conference here on Saturday their party being a new entity of left wing was leading Sindh's youth in the struggle for basic issues of the province. Pakistan needed $11 billion for debt servicing and import by June this year to avoid default, they said.

They said that IMF had not yet approved $1.3bn tranche while Pakistan would need another $36bn for 2023-24 fiscal year. Only the poor were bearing the brunt of this economic crisis, they said.

They called for withdrawal of indirect taxes and taxing jagirdars, capitalists and real estate community to provide relief to common man and demanded cut in defence budget which should be diverted to health and education sectors.
