Polls cannot be delayed on wishes of two political parties: PPP.

ISLAMABAD -- In an apparent reference to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Information Secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday contended that the general elections cannot be delayed on the wishes of two political parties, media reported.

The statement comes in the wake of PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif returning to the country after ending his almost four-year exile a day earlier.

In a statement, Kundi said that any decision to delay the elections should be made in accordance with constitutional principles rather than on the wishes of two political personalities.

He expressed concerns that delaying the elections might serve as a covert strategy to manipulate the final electoral outcome.

In the recent past, the PPP had voiced its apprehensions on the alleged lack of level playing field, accusing the electoral body and caretaker government of facilitating the PML-N.

The PPP's central executive committee also objected to the inclusion of certain individuals in the federal cabinet, who they alleged had biases in favour of the PML-N.
