'Police informer' shot dead in Quaidabad.

KARACHI -- A man was shot dead in a Quaidabad locality in what appeared to be a targeted attack on Saturday, police said.

Area SHO Malik Ashraf said that Umer Zaman, 30, was present at a roadside eatery near Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Chowk when armed motorcyclists emerged there and opened indiscriminate firing on him and rode away.

Zaman suffered four bullet wounds and died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

The SHO said the victim was a 'police informer', who worked for other law enforcement agencies as well.

The police obtained CCTV footage from the crime scene and were working on the case to identify and arrest the killers, he added.

The body of a young man was found in Hub Canal within the remit of the Manghopir police station on Saturday.
