Police decline to comply with court order on FIR against SSP, inspectors.

SANGHAR -- Khipro police on Sunday defied an order of the Sanghar sessions court that had asked for registration of an FIR against a former SSP of the area, five inspectors and 20 of their subordinate policemen in an alleged custodial killing case.

Heirs of Ali Hyder Roonjho one of the two `suspected robbers` who were shot dead in what was claimed to be an encounter with police had filed an application in the court of Additional Sessions Judge of Sanghar Inayatullah Bhutto claiming that Roojho was killed on May 20 while he was in police custody and not in an encounter.

The judge had on Friday ordered registration of an FIR against the then SSP Zeeshan Shafique, inspectors Allan Abbasi, Ishaq Sangrasi, Gulzar Marri, Zulfiqar Pahi and Sharif Jamali along with 20 other policemen. In his order, the judge had directed that in the event of the Khipro SHO`s refusal to register the FIR, the Sanghar SSP exercising his powers under Section 551 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC)...
