Police counter at hospital to ease issuance of MLC.

GUJRAT -- The police have established a Khidmat Counter at the trauma centre of Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH) to facilitate people regarding initial procedures involving issuance of a medico-legal certificate (MLC).

The counter formally started functioning on Friday.

This is the first such counter to be established in any public sector hospital in the district that will be managed by educated and trained police personnel.

District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ali Mohsin inaugurated the facility at the hospital on Thursday in the presence of the hospital administration and patients. He said that the police docket, which was an official document keeping record of reported crimes and investigations into them, would be issued at the counter. This document is usually issued by the police station concerned for the issuance of an MLC.

He further said that the counter had been linked with police stations online and the police station concerned would be through the system as well as wireless about issuance of a docket so people could avoid visiting the police station concerned from a hospital.
