Police baton charge, tear gas shelling leave 17 SBBU students injured.

NAWABSHAH -- At least 17 students of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU) Nawabshah were injured when police baton-charged them and fired tear gas here on Wednesday.

A large number of SBBU studAents were protesting against the university administration at the varsity's main gate for acceptance of their demands.

When the protesters received no response from the SBBU administration, they, including girl students, came on the main Sakrand Road for protest. A heavy contingent of NawabAshah police reached the spot and took action in which the students received injuries.

The injured were taken to the Peoples Medical UniverAsity Hospital from where Maqbool Brohi was referred to Hyderabad due to his serious condition.

Later, the students once again staged a protest demonstration against the university administration for the violent action.

The protesters said that being students they had the right to hold a peaceful protest for provision of facilities to them, but the SBBU administration never bothered to listen to them and called police instead who did injustice to them.
