PMA shocked over rise in polio cases, seeks massive awareness drive.

KARACHI -- Pakistan Medical Association (PMA)on Friday shocked over the rise in polio cases in Pakistan this year. PMA Secretary General Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad said in a statement that it was distressing to know that the detected polio virus cases had reached 41 mark (Punjab 3, Sindh 3, KPK 25, KPTD 8, Balochistan 2), which was very alarming, while Prime Minister's Focal Person on Polio Babar bin Atta, after this rapid increase in reported cases, had reached a conclusion that data manipulation was done over the past few years as performance of the entire programme revolved around the data or numbers.

He said PMA believed that statement of the focal person was irresponsible and it was just political point scoring. Instead of indulging into any blame game, the focal person should have chalked out a solid and comprehensive strategy to overcome the issues obstructing the polio free Pakistan gola.
