PM calls NSC meeting.

ISLAMABAD -- Amid a surge in coronavirus cases in the country, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday called an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee to chalk up a strategy to contain the deadly disease that has claimed over 3,000 lives so far. The meeting will be attended by the chief ministers of all four provinces along with the defence, interior and foreign ministers. PM's aide on health Dr Zafar Mirza, economic adviser Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, media adviser Firdous Ashiq Awan and national security division aide Moeed Yusuf will also be present. All three heads of the armed forces and the directors-general of Inter-Services Intelligence and Intelligence Bureau will also attend the meeting among other officials.

After the emergence of another case in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan has reported 21 confirmed cases of the virus and all of them had travel histories. The latest case was reported in Shigar, Skardu, where the case of a 31-year-old man who recently returned from Iran was found positive. On Wednesday, a 14-year-old from Skardu had tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The first confirmed case in GB was of a 45-year-old woman, who arrived from Iran a few days to Gilgit before she was diagnosed. According to data shared by the National Institute of Health (NIH), over 0.8million people were screened, out of which 271 were suspected cases. Upon tests, 21 people were tested positive out of total of 471.
