Pims employees want recruitment rules for ED reviewed.

ISLAMABAD -- Employees of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Wednesday demanded that rules for the appointment of Executive Director (ED) should be reviewed.

They were attending the meeting of the Specialist Council chaired by ED Dr Naeem Malik held in the hospital.

Prof Dr Amjad Chaudary and Prof Dr Ayesha Isani demanded to amend the recruitment rules with level III qualification instead of level II qualification in Public Health.

It was unanimously decided to pursue upgradation of posts of Dean Pims, Principal Federal Medical College (FMC) and ED.

Spokesperson for Specialist Council Dr Asfandyar Khan, while talking toDawn, said it was also decided to pursue upgradation of posts of professor in BPS 21, Associate Professor in BPS 20, assistant professor in BPS 19 and senior registrar in BPS 18 to end disparity in the grades amongst university faculty and Pims faculty.

'Prof Dr Amjad Chaudhary discussed several models being followed in other hospitals like JPMC, and Sheikh Zaid Hospital, which is led by BS 22 Dean/ Chairman, followed by BS-21 Principal and ED respectively. Prof Rana Imran suggested channels for BS 21 and BS 22 should open at Pims also.

He also stated that post of Principal FMC to be upgraded to BPS 21 and promotion channel of teaching faculty should be towards BS 21 posts,' he said.
