PHEC gets new chairperson.

LAHORE -- The Punjab government on Thursday appointed Prof Dr Shahid Munir chairperson of the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC).

The post was vacant after Prof Dr Fazal Ahmed Khalid left the seat in September 2021 when he was appointed as rector of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology.

The search committee interviewed more than 20 people for the post in January and shortlisted three of them - University of Jhang Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Shaid Munir, Punjab University Pro VC Dr Saleem Mazahar and University of Okara VC Dr Zakria Zakir.

Chief Minister Hamza Shebaz appointed Prof Dr Munir as PHEC chairperson for a four-year term. His tenure at the University of Jhang would be completed in November.
