PHCBA forms team to pursue Afridi murder case.

PESHAWAR -- Amid mourning by legal fraternity for the killing of senior lawyer Abdul Latif Afridi in a gun attack, the Peshawar High Court Bar Association on Wednesday constituted a six-member legal team to pursue the murder case.

A notification by the PHCBA said the team comprised senior lawyers Syed Abdul Fayyaz, Hussain Ali, Mohammad Saeed Khan, Shabbir Hussain Gigyani, Barrister Amirullah Chamkani and Asfandyar Khan and would pursue the case from the sessions court to the Supreme Court.

While the Pakistan Bar Council and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council had given the call for strike for Jan 17, the PHCBA had announced that the legal community would mourn the killing for three days and won't appear before courts of Peshawar and other districts attached to the Principal Seat of the high court until Jan 19.

The lawyers boycotted court proceedings on Wednesday.

Mr Afridi was killed inside the Safeerullah Bar Room on the high court's premises on Jan 16.
