Pesco asks plaza owners to install transformers.

MANSEHRA -- The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has warned that it will disconnect electricity connections of commercial plazas and markets if their owners don't install power transformers for their commercial properties.

'As almost all shops and offices in commercial plazas and markets are being run through single-phase electric meters putting the entire burden on transmission lines and grid stations and thus, causing extra loadshedding and frequent tripping of the system,' Pesco sub-divisional officer Attaur Rehman told a meeting in Oghi tehsil on Saturday.

The meeting attended by the president of the traders' body was called by assistant commissioner Zainab Ahmad Cheema over the excessive power cuts in Oghi and adjoining areas.

The participants complained about the prolonged loadshedding and low voltage and demanded early corrective measures by the Pesco.

Pesco sub-divisional officers Attaur Rehman and Waqas Ahmad said power system was adversely affected as shops in a market received electricity by single-phase meters and didn't install transformers.

'We have already issued notices to the owners of commercial markets and plazas to install own power transformers for electric supply to shops on the premises and if that doesn't happen, their power connections will be severed shortly,' Mr Rehman said.
