Panel to probe murder of youth in Swat police station.

SWAT -- A committee has been formed to probe the murder of a young man in a police station in Swat as the incident has sparked anger among the residents of the district.

Sources said that the young man identified as Obaid Khan was shot dead in Banr police station in the limits of Mingora on Monday night. Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan on Tuesday formed a committee to probe the incident.

Faridoon Khan, an uncle of the deceased, said that some policemen in plainclothes came to their home in Banr and arrested his nephew Obaid Khan. He said that he tried to talk to them, but they also took him to the police station.

'In the police station, I was talking to the SHO when some policemen took Obaid Khan to another room,' he said. He added that soon after that he heard a gunshot and learnt that his nephew was shot dead.

The incident sparked anger among the locals, who made it a trend on social media.

The RPO formed a committee to probe the matter. The committee is headed by SSP Shah Hassan Khan and its other members include SP Rahim Hussain Khan, SP Special Branch Pir Zarbadshah, DSP Afsar Zaman, Lower Dir SDPO Farooq Jan, SI Mohammad Anwar, SI Imtiaz Khan and ASI Gohar.
