Pakistan reiterates its commitment for peaceful neighbourhood: Munir Akram.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram said that Pakistan has been willing to have peaceful relations with all neighboring countries. In a statement, after assuming charge at the UN, he said Pakistan would continue to support the just cause of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination.

Mr Akram said that Indian atrocities and state terrorism in the occupied Kashmir would be highlighted at the UN. He said intensifying the efforts against anti-Islam narrative, corruption and money laundering would be his top priority. He said Pakistan's efforts for regional peace and security, arms reduction, and climate change would continue. Mr Akram, yesterday, took charge of Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, replacing Maleeha Lodhi, who completed her tenure. Mr Akram, being a well-known figure in diplomatic circles, has served as Pakistan's ambassador to the UN previously as well, holding the office for six years between 2002 and 2008.
