Pakistan likely to get permission to train after clearing final round of Covid testing.

CHRISTCHURCH -- Pakistan cricket team are likely to get permission to train in groups in Christchurch after clearing the final round of coronavirus testing scheduled on Sunday ahead of their international outings against New Zealand.

Eight individuals of the 53-member Pakistan squad have tested positive for the virus since arriving in New Zealand.

The results of the rest of the unit were negative on Friday but the team were not allowed to start training.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO had expressed disappointment over the decision by the New Zealand authorities.

Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield had said in a statement, 'I have very carefully considered this situation.

At this time, I continue to have ongoing concerns about the risk of cross-infection within the squad.
