REALISING the fact that there was no military solution to the conflict in Afghanistan, the United States asked Pakistan to mediate in talks with the Afghan Taliban. Islamabad agreed and hosted an Afghan Taliban delegation in Islamabad to resume US-Taliban talks, which was appreciated by the world at large.
