Over 30 crime incidents reported in capital daily.

ISLAMABAD -- Islamabad has been witnessing on average 38 crime incidents per day since the start of this year despite having more resources than any of the provincial police departments.

There are 25 police stations in Islamabad.

As many as 11,458 incidents of crime including over 3,000 incidents of vehicle snatching were reported from Jan 1 to Oct 31.

According to sources 1,924 robberies, 1,217 snatchings, 1,061 burglaries, 2,183 thefts, 568 vehicle thefts, and 2.9 motorcycle thefts were reported in the capital from Jan 1 to Oct 31.

Since May 22, about 907 robberies, 559 snatching incidents, 488 burglaries, 842 thefts, 288 vehicle thefts and 1,580 motorcycle thefts were reported in the capital, the officers said, adding out of the total, 139 robberies, 74 snatching incidents, 91 burglaries, 160 thefts, 61 vehicle thefts, 284 motorcycle thefts were reported during the last month of October.

As many as 14 robberies were reported in the Rural Zone followed by nine in Saddar zone, six each in city and industrial area zones in 2022. Similarly, 441 snatchings were reported in Rural Zone followed by 382 in Industrial Area, 290 in Saddar and 104 in City Zones, they said, adding out of the total 184, 158, 141, 76 snatchings were reported in Rural, Saddar, Industrial Area and City Zones since May 22.

Moreover, 436 burglaries were reported in Rural Zone, followed by 345 in Saddar, 170 in City, and 111 in Industrial Area Zones in 2022, the officers said, adding that out of the total 234, 165, 67 and 54 burglaries were reported in Rural, Saddar, City, and Industrial Area Zones respectively after May 21, 2022.
