Over 2,000 vehicles confiscated in three days.

SAHIWAL -- Office-bearers of the All Pakistan Transport Owners Association have alleged that over 2,000 trucks, containers and heavy vehicles have been confiscated on the directions of the government during the past 72 hours.

This was stated during a press conference addressed by Muhammad Awais Chaudhry, general secretary of the association.

Addressing the media, he said transport was the backbone of the economy and during the past three days, the police and other law-enforcement agencies had confiscated more than 2,000 trucks, tractor-trolleys and containers.

He said they had hoped the PTI government would resolve their issues, but instead various government departments were harassing drivers and transport owners and illegally detaining their containers. If the officials did not stop harassing the drivers, they would go on strike across Pakistan, he warned.

He claimed that because of the government's actions many transport owners and drivers had stopped working. He also demanded immediate release of the trucks and other vehicles, saying if the government needed their containers and vehicles it should ask for them legally.
