Over 2,000 plots allotted to govt employees through balloting.

ISLAMABAD -- The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) on Friday allotted 2,354 plots in the delayed Bhara Kahu Housing Scheme and said the project will be completed by the end of this year.

Minister for Housing and Works Tariq Bashir Cheema supervised the and opened the process by holding balloting of a Category-I plot.

'We want all ongoing projects to be completed on time so that the federal employees can fulfil their dream of owning a house,' he said.

In the first phase, 2,354 plots of different categories out of 3,281 were allotted. Those who had been issued provisional offer letters (POL) and who had submitted down payment were included in the balloting. The remaining plots will be allotted in the next phase.

Bhara Kahu Housing Scheme scheduled to be completed by December this year

The Bhara Kahu Housing Scheme Green Enclave I was launched in 2009 but it was delayed for many years due to investigation and litigation.

Briefing the minister, FGEHA Director General Waseem Hayat Bajwa said work on the scheme had been in full swing for the last two years.

According to the authority, 40pc progress has been made on the project while work on the road leading to it, including the 140-metre bridge over Korang River, is 70pc complete. The project is expected to be completed in December 2021.
