Over 1,300 get degrees at 55th CPSP convocation.

KARACHI -- Over 1,300 health professionals were conferred degrees at the 55th convocation of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) held on Thursday.

Dr Yasmin Ali Khan, Dr Anum Mughal, Dr Owais Mousani, Dr Hamdan Ahmad Pasha, Dr Yusra Javed and Dr Noor-us-Saba were awarded gold medals.

In his welcome address, Prof Mohammad Shoaib Shafi, CPSP president, narrated how the college had grown and recognised internationally for producing specialist doctors.

'CPSP has produced 32,977 fellows and 2,323 members to date. It made a modest beginning by offering membership programmes in essential disciplines initially, followed by two fellowship programmes. Today, it offers 80 fellowship and 22 membership programmes, and contributes around 90pc of specialist manpower for the country and almost 100pc of specialists for the armed forces,' he told the audience.
