Opp calls budget anti-people, unrealistic.

LAHORE -- The opposition has rejected the Punjab budget 2020-21, terming it anti-people and unrealistic.

It also questioned Chief Minister Usman Buzdar spending a huge sum of money on computerisation of the land record of his hometown in DG Khan.

'The opposition rejects this anti-people budget as it is totally unrealistic. The Punjab government is taking cover of Covid-19 for its fiscal disaster. In this budget, the government has made a cut to every sector, showing the PTI is not capable of running the province,' PML-N information secretary Azma Bokhari said in her party's reaction to the budget.

Talking to Dawn, the outspoken lawmaker said the opposition asked CM Buzdar to tell the people how his government had spent Rs470m on computerisation of the land record in his hometown.

'It is such a huge amount and the chief minister will have to give answer for this,' she said.

Ms Bokhari said the PTI government was conveniently blaming the coronavirus for its every failure.

'Corona hit the country three months prior to the fiscal year but the Punjab government failed to achieve its tax target and could not spend over 40pc of its development budget of 2019-20, showing its complete incompetence.'
