Only Punjab achieved tax collection target, claims CM.

LAHORE -- Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar Sunday claimed that Punjab was the only province which had achieved its tax collection target in the preceding years.

'A 24.7 percent increase has been reported in revenue collection of the last financial year by Punjab Revenue Authority. Similarly, there is an 18 percent increase in the tax collection target by Excise Department,' he said in a statement.

Usman Buzdar said that special incentives were given to the business community to minimise the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. 'Punjab is the only province whose tax revenue target is in surplus,' he claimed, alleging that the incompetency of former rulers had badly affected the economy of the province. He also said that the previous government had made the province bankrupt. 'The current government, on the other hand, has worked day and night and put the economy of the province in the right direction. Today, Punjab's economy has been strengthened once again,' he affirmed.
