One killed, eight injured over dog's death.

TOBA TEK SINGH -- A man died and eight others of a family were injured when a group of people attacked them over a dispute over a dog's death at Chak 322-JB Shahzada on Thursday.

City police said one of the accused was riding on his motorcycle in a village street when a pet dog was crushed to death by his motorcycle on Wednesday. At this, harsh words were exchanged between him and the dog owners.

To take revenge for the dog's death, the accused attacked the group belonging to the motorcyclist's family with weapons and sticks on Thursday. As a result, nine persons were wounded.

They were identified as Pervez Akhtar, 45, Munawar Ahmad, 42, Muhammad Altaf, 40, Akhter Ali, 49, Zafar Iqbal, 58, Sameer Ahmad, 12, Hasnain Ali, 19, Aqib Mustafa, 21, and Arsalan Boota, 11.

All the injured were shifted to the DHQ Hospital. The doctors referred four of them to the Faisalabad Allied Hospital where the minor boy, Sameer, succumbed to his injuries while the condition of three others was reported to be critical.

District police spokesperson Attaullah claimed that out of nine wounded persons, four received bullet wounds while five others were injured by attack with wooden sticks.

He said all the four accused persons, namely Ali Pervez, Riaz, Shan and Waseem, had been arrested.
