Old machines behind slow lifting of solid waste.

LAHORE -- Local Government and Community Development Department Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal identifies old machinery one of the main reasons behind delay in solid waste lifting and shifting it to the landfill sites.

'Despite various issues, the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) seems trying to keep the city clean,' Mr Mengal said on Wednesday.

'But it must start procuring new machinery/equipment for timely lifting and disposing of the solid waste since the old machinery is almost of no use.'

Mr Mengal visited Outfall Road workshops, Fort Road, Bhati Chowk, Shah Jamal, Shadman, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Chauburji and some other areas. He directed the LWMC to keep monitoring the waste operations on a daily basis.
