Old feud claims lives of eight family members.

SHEIKHUPURA -- Eight members of a family were shot dead and three others injured allegedly by the men belonging to their rival group over a quarrel sparked by a fight between children at Kharianwala village in the limits of Bhiki police station on Saturday.

According to police sources and locals, the groups respectively led by Khadim and Rasool alias Sooli had an old enmity with each other that had already claimed lives of some 30 people from both sides over past years.

On Saturday, children of members of both rival groups clashed while playing in the village street.

On being informed of the children's clash, Rasool's armed men got enraged and entered the house of their rival Khadim, where they opened indiscriminate fire, killing his wife Bashiran Bibi and his son Ali Shan on the spot.

Then the attackers reached the fields, where Khadim and some other members of his family were harvesting the wheat crop, and opened fire on them.
