Nowshera traders continue protest against taxes.

NOWSHERA -- The traders continued their strike for the third straight day on Friday against imposition of taxes by the cantonment board, Nowshera, vowing to continue the agitation till the levies were not withdrawn.

The Anjuman-i-Tajiran brought out a procession, which after passing through different bazaars, including Cavalry Road, Moti Bazaar and Jewellery Bazaar, reached the Shobra Chowk.

The protesters were chanting slogans against the cantonment board's high-ups, saying the traders were not ready to pay the 'unjustified' taxes and rent imposed on over 50 shops.

The shopkeepers were carrying banners inscribed with different slogans against the board.

Addressing the protesters, president Anjuman-i-Tajiran Khalid Khan Afridi said shopkeepers were not ready to accept the 'illegal' taxes.

He said their businesses had already been battered by the economic downturn, and more taxes would put them in further turmoil.
