De-notified officer holds on to post in violation of SC order.

HYDERABAD -- An officer of Sindh health department continues to perform important functions in Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) even after having been demoted and denotified by Sindh government on Supreme Court's directives.

On Wednesday, the officer Abdul Sattar Jatoi conducted proceedings of LUH's hospital management board as secretary of the board by virtue of his being director of administration, a BS-20 post which he held illegally in violation of SC's order.

Sindh health department, however, has not been able to restrain Jatoi from exercising this official authority even after six months. The director of administration is a member of the management board as per relevant Act which governs functions of the board in teaching hospitals.

The board decided on Wednesday to initiate much delayed process of hiring of director of finance for LUH in line with the Sindh Teaching Hospitals (Establishment of Management Board) Act 2020, said Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) vice chancellor, Prof Dr Ikram Din Ujjan, who is chairman of the board.

He said that an advertisement would be placed in newspaper for the post and a committee was being formed to complete process for the appointment of director of finance, anaesthetist, vascular, cardiac surgeons, perfusionist, house officers.

Sindh secretary health Syed Zulfikar Shah did not attend the meeting as member of the board nor did he pick the phone to comment on de-notified officer's activities. Likewise, secretary of finance (also member of the board) or his representative did not attend the huddle.
