Notices issued to DC, others on vegetable traders' contempt plea.

HYDERABAD -- A division bench of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit, has issued notices to Deputy Commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro, former Latifabad assistant commissioner Faraz Siddiqui and market committee chairman Shahnawaz Rind on some vegetable traders' plea alleging contempt of court in the matter of their eviction from old Sabzi Mandi, Hali Road.

The court's office issued notices to the respondents for May 14.

The application was filed by Wali Mohammad and 39 other vegetable traders through Advocate Imdad Unnar who cited violation of court's order issued on March 3, 2020.

The petition on which the bench had passed the order had stated that there was a serious issue of multiple allotments, besides unavailability of basic amenities, at the new site of Sabzi Mandi but the petitioners were being forced to move to it and being restrained from doing their business at the old Sabzi Mandi.

The counsel submitted in court that his clients were lawful owners of their respective plots in the new Sabzi Mandi but duplicate allotments by the officials concerned have made things complicated and now they were being evicted from the old Sabzi Mandi without...
