Notices issued on plea for concession to senior citizens by pvt hospitals.

KARACHI -- The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the provincial health department and the Senior Citizens Council (SCC) on a petition seel(ing concession to senior citizens for treatment at private hospitals.

The Legal Aid Society moved the SHC and submitted that all the private hospitals and medical centres were bound to provide 25 per cent concession to senior citizens under the Sindh Senior Citizens Welfare Act, 2014.

The petitioner said that as per Section 5 (f) of the act, provide free geriatric, medical and health services with free medicines to senior citizens by the respective medical officer from government dispensaries, hospitals, medical centres and 25pc concession on all private hospitals, medical centres and clinics.

Impleading the health department, the SCC and many private hospitals of the metropolis as respondents, the petitioner sought direction for private health facilities to provide concession to the senior citizens since they were facing problems during the outbreak of Covid-19.
