Notice to Safdar on plea to cancel bail.

LAHORE -- The Lahore High Court on Friday issued a notice to PML-N leader retired Capt Safdar, the son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, on a petition by the prosecution seeking cancellation of his bail in a hate speech case.

Representing the petition, a state counsel submitted to the court that the PML-N leader issued statements against the state institutions, which were not only objectionable but fell within the ambit of treason.

He said the respondent was not entitled to the bail but the sessions court failed to take into account the prosecution's opinion and erred in the impugned bail granting decision.
