New WHO Representative calls on Health Minister.

ISLAMABAD -- New World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in Pakistan Dr Palitha Mahipala called on Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Dr Zafar Mirza on Monday and discussed ways to improve the health system in the country.

Welcoming the WHO Representative who has recently taken office, Dr Zafar Mirza lauded his contribution to improving health systems in Sri Lanka during his tenure as Director General Health and Additional Secretary Health in his home country.

Sri Lankan health system has a long record of strong performance and its progress towards Universal Health Coverage stands out as an example for the rest of the world.

"We can learn a great deal from the Sri Lankan experience in strengthening Primary health-care and provision of Universal Health-Care", the minister said.
