NCBI to be inaugurated by April end.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has finalized all arrangements to inaugurate first-ever state-of-the-art National Capacity Building Institute (NCBI) by end of next month in the field of water sciences and engineering.

It is set up with the financial and technical support of Korean government to cater the needs of aspiring students and water professionals belonging to different parts of the country, a senior official in PCRWR told reporter.

He said all the infrastructure of the institute, which has been established at PCRWR, is completed and the authority was trying to take time from Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Dr Arif Alvi for inauguration.

'The institute is established with the Korean government's financial support of $300 million while the PCRWR bore the operational cost of Rs 65 million,' he added.

Initially, he said training would be imparted to the students in water management through a three-year diploma, which is highly relevant today as the country is facing problems of water shortage and unclean drinking water.

He said the institute is equipped with modern computer laboratories having the latest generation of intel i7 processors for modeling in water resources, besides high-tech computational laboratories.

The official said different software and models related with water management and modeling had already made available with the additional capacity of developing its own water quality, water quantity and water management and optimization models for commercial purposes.
