NAB forms several teams in fake accounts case.

Chairman of the National AccountaAbility Bureau (NAB) retired Justice Javed Iqbal on Thursday presided over a meeting held to review progress made by the Combined Investigation Team (CIT) constituted in the light of Supreme Court's orders in the fake bank accounts and money laundering case.

'CIT has started working as per law and the meeting held today reviewed its preliminary report in the fake accounts case, besides analysing progress in various aspects of the case,' NAB's spokesman said.

According to him, the meeting devised a comprehensive strategy and constituted various teams. Some teams were asked to record statements in the light of evidence from Karachi and some were assigned work at the NAB headquarters.

The meeting also discuAssed transferring the fake accounts case from a banking court in Karachi to the accountability court in Islamabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Iqbal instructed the officials concerned to implement the judgement of the apex court in letter and spirit by using all resources available under the law.

'NAB believes in taking the investigations to their logical conclusion in the light of law and concrete evidence. Media should avoid speculations regarding fake accounts case,' he added.

The meeting was attended, among others, by NAB's prosecutor general, director general (operations) and director general for Rawalpindi.

The NAB chairman had constituted the CIT, which is headed by NAB's director general for Rawalpindi, in pursuance of Supreme Court's judgement in the fake accounts case.

The NAB's chairman is himself supervising the work of CIT.
