NA speaker pays tributes to martyrs.

RAWALPINDI -- Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf laid wreath at the tomb of Captain Raja Mohammad Sarwar Shaheed, Nishan-i-Haider, in Gujar Khan as the nation observed Youm Takreem-i-Shuhada on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, Speaker Ashraf said that we are living in a peaceful and free land today due to the sacrifices of the martyrs and the entire nation is paying tributes to them.

He said that martyrs of armed forces, police and other security agencies sacrificed their lives for the survival and peace of this country.

He said that the zealous people of Pakistan were proud of their martyrs and there were great mothers who gave birth to sons who sacrificed their lives to protect the country.

He said parents of the martyrs were also our real heroes who sacrificed their young sons for this country and today they have become an example of patience and courage.

The speaker said that the Potohar region was a fertile land because there were graves of martyrs everywhere and the residents of this land had shown bravely in all wars, in operations against terrorists and for the sake of peace in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema said tributes were being paid to the brave sons of Pakistan Army and Police by the people of Pakistan.

He said we also pay homage to the parents and heirs of the martyrs.

Meanwhile, a special ceremony was organised at Arid Agricultural University Rawalpindi to pay tributes to the martyrs.

The ceremony was attended by deans, registrar, directors, faculty members, administration and a large number of students.

Addressing the event, speakers termed martyrs the identity of the country said nations always remembered their martyrs and never forgot their sacrifices.

They appreciated the role of the armed forces in making Pakistan a safe and terrorism-free country.

At the end of the ceremony, the participants raised slogans in favour of the armed forces and martyrs.
