NA speaker irked by delay in Parliament Lodges project.

ISLAMABAD -- National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf and Public Accounts Committee ChairmanNoor Alam Khan on Tuesday expressed displeasure over Capital Development Authority (CDA) for not completing the Parliament Lodges project on time.

The project was supposed to be completed in 2013. The speaker and the PAC chairman visited the lodges and got a briefing from CDA officers.

They were informed about issues and basic contours of the construction of new Parliament Lodges.

CDA's member planning told them that the civic agency was the executing agency of the project which was to be completed in 2013.

Due to the delay, the cost of the project has exponentially increased from Rs1600 million to Rs6.4 billions.

The speaker and the PAC chairman expressed displeasure over the non-professionalism of the CDA.

The speaker said the delay of more than a decade in completing the project was tantamount to severe negligence and non-professionalism.
