MWM criticises negotiations with banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD -- Majlis-i-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) has criticised the government and state functionaries over their negotiations with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), saying instead of launching operations against terror cells the authorities were trying to mainstream them.

MWM Secretary General Syed Nasir Shirazi said the nation was not even clear about the nature of the talks with the banned TTP, and such elements had been instrumental in creating law and order situation in the Kurram district in the recent past.

Addressing a press conference along with other leaders from Parachinar here on Friday, he said the nation was a stakeholder in the talks because almost everyone had been a victim of the TTP's terror in Pakistan.

He said his party had rejected the talks with the banned group.

'No one should have any soft corner for the killers and these talks with terrorists are tantamount to standing with the killers,' Mr Shirazi said, adding a conspiracy was being hatched to sabotage the peace in Kurram.

The MWM leaders asked the government and the negotiators if the banned group had recognised the state of Pakistan; was it ready to become part of the mainstream society and shun violence and was the TTP leadership ready to denounce killing of innocent people.
