Muzammil shatters Aqeel's dominance.

ISLAMABAD -- Young tennis star Muzammil Murtaza stunned veteran Aqeel Khan to win the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed National Ranking Tennis Championship here at the Islamabad Tennis Complex on Sunday.

In the ladies singles final, Mahin Aftab tamed Sara Mehboob 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 to clinched the title.

Muzammil, 20, shattered Aqeel's two-decade dominance at the national level when he outclassed the 39-year-old in two straight sets. Both players exhibited quality play in the first set, which featured long rallies. However, the rallies helped Muzammil to exhaust Aqeel and further hurt the former national champion with his brilliant forehand winners.

After a close fight on a tie break, Muzammil managed to down Aqeel 7-6( 8-6). In the second set, Aqeel found it impossible to match youngster's speed and accuracy and a 6-1 defeat was inevitable.

Muzammil revealed that he planned to exhaust Aqeel through long rally plays and looked to go on attack when the latter was tired.
