MEDICAL and legal professions are considered sophisticated. However, most often in Pakistan, doctors and lawyers have proved it wrong by adopting unprofessional behaviour and indulging in protests and strikes over frivolous matters.

Now strikes by the lawyers and protests by Young Doctors' Association have become a routine affair. Resultantly, life of the common man is affected badly.

For the sake of Pakistan's bright future, the authorities should take steps to root out these structural flaws from institutional mindsets by laying more emphasis on ethics.
