Mufti Naeem of Jamia Banoria passes away.

KARACHI -- Mufti Mohammad Naeem, a prominent cleric, scholar and one of the founders of Jamia Banoria, died here on Saturday after suffering cardiac arrest, his family and the Jamia announced.

They said the 62-year-old cleric had been suffering from cardiac disease for a long time. On Saturday evening, Mufti Naeem was being moved to a hospital after he complained of feeling unwell, but died on way to the hospital.

'Mufti Sahab had been suffering from cardiac problems for quite some time,' the spokesman for the Jamia Banoria told Dawn. 'It was this [Saturday] evening that he complained of unusual discomfort. His son Mufti Noman, along with his students, was taking him to hospital when the scholar died. He was born in 1958 and has been survived by wife, three sons and two daughters.'

Condolence messages over the passing of Mufti Naeem started pouring in minutes after news of his demise hit news channels. Prime MinisAter Imran Khan expreAssed his grief over his death and offered condolences to his family. Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa also issued a statement about the demise of the renowned cleric.
