MQM as coalition partner should sought 650 MGD water: Murtaza Wahab.

KARACHI -- Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Information and Archives, Law and Anti-Corruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Saturday said that the government should ensure general public's participation at all levels so as to recognize the real issues being faced by them. The Adviser said that the unification of the government and the general public was in the benefit of both the people as well as the state.

He said this while addressing a seminar on 'Engaging Communities for the Peace Building' organized by Pakistan Institute of Labor Education and Research at a local hotel on Saturday. Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that it was Pakistan People's Party that first ensured the participation of the civil society in legislation. Pakistan People's Party with the help and suggestions of the members of the civil society re drafted the legislation a propos Police and Prisons, the Adviser added.

He said that the PPP wanted to make Police an independent institution and through the reforms initiated by the Sindh government it had become an independent institution indeed. While reforming of the prisons was also one of the top priorities of the Sindh government, he said.

The Adviser said that the Sindh government has replaced the 1894 legislation of prisons in 2019 with 'Sindh Prisons and Corrections Services Bill 2019'.
