Mongolia-china Joint Parliamentary Meeting Enhances Inter-parliamentary Cooperation

Yan Junqi, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, has conducted a working visit to Mongolia to attend the joint meeting of a regular prarliamentary exchange mechanism between China and Mongolia, upon the invitation of her Mongolian counterpart M.Enkhbold.

Hosted by the Parliament of Mongolia on Tuesday, this was the first meeting of the permanent talks mechanism between the parliaments of Mongolia and China. The authorities discussed stepping up Mongolia-China relations and inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Mongolian Head of the Mongolia-China inter-parliamentary group M.Enkhbold said in his opening remarks that advancement of the ties and collaboration between the two legislative bodies at all levels, and an enhancing of legal fundamentals of bilateral cooperation under the mechanism will become a vital political guarantee for deepening bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

Chairwoman Yan highlighted that the far-sighted moves of the two countries' leaders and the nations' inter-parliamentary ties have significantly contributed to the development of bilateral relations. She talked about her views on expanding the mechanism of permanent talks, underlining the importance of promoting negotiations, activating cooperation, and enhancing mutual trust.

The day before their meeting, Speaker of Parliament Z.Enkhbold received the visiting delegation headed by Yan Junqi, and the sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in trade, the economy, infrastructure, agriculture, and other spheres. Chairwoman Yan noted that China and Mongolia are not only neighbors, but are also economic partners. She emphasized that it is vital to promote mutual political trust.
