Minister promises corruption-free education boards.

ABBOTTABAD -- Elementary and secondary education minister Akbar Ayub Khan has efforts are under way to eliminate corruption from education boards and digitalise the exam system.

'Through the new system, we will eliminate the practice of sifarish and cheating in examinations. Our new exam system will be based on merit,' he told a ceremony held by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Abbottabad, to give away medals and prizes to the top position holders in the 2019 secondary and higher secondary school examinations.

The minister directed the board officials to establish liaison offices in Haripur, Mansehra and Battagram for the students of far-flung areas.

He said the government had given top priority to the education sector and was launching different projects for the youth and students.

'Youth are our main asset. We have decided to optimally utilise their talents for the country's development,' he said.

Gives away medals, prizes to exam position holders

The minister declared quality education a 'golden tool for success' and said the scholarship programme benefited 60,000 students in the country.

The ceremony was attended by students and their parents and teachers, representatives of the Bannu and Mardan education boards, and senior officials of the education department.
