Mining firm organises science festival at Thar Coalfields.

MITHI -- To impart science education to the young generation of rural areas, a festival was held in the remotest area of Tharparkar district on Thursday where hundreds of participants witnessed science models created by local schoolchildren.

The science festival was organised by the Thar Foundation in New Senhri Dars, Jeewan Das campus, some 70 kilometers away from Mithi. The Pakistan Space Science Education Center (PSSEC) provided technical assistance to the foundation which assisted students of different schools to develop their models and exhibit them at the festival.

It was inaugurated by a girl student of Thar Foundation school, Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC) chief executive officer (CEO) Syed Abul Fazal Rizvi, Site Sindh Managing Director Syed Mehdi Shah, Tharparkar Deputy Commissioner Shahzad Thahim and Thar Foundation manager education Sabeen Shah.

Students of Thar Foundation schools, The Citizen Foundation and government schools of the area demonstrated projects of wind and solar energy, ecosystem protection, wastewater treatment plants, rainwater storage system at the household level.
