Mini-power station opens in Shangla.

SHANGLA -- A 12KW mini-power station constructed by an NGO in remote Basi area of Alpuri tehsil has started generating power, benefitting over 60 households.

The project was inaugurated by manager Pak Mission Society (PMS) for North, Liaqat Gul on Friday. The ceremony was attended by local elders, social activists and beneficiaries.

On the occasion, PMS area manager Rustam Jamal said Basi station was one of the micro-power projects established for the local community under the integrated project for Shangla.

He said the project was meant to benefit the areas without electricity facility.

He said Shangla had potential to produce cheap hydropower to benefit the local community.
