Millers flay action against flour mill.

GUJRAT -- The flour millers have lodged a strong protest against sealing of a mills and registration of a case against its owner on charges of hoarding wheat.

They criticised the authorities for failure to control wheat smuggling to other parts of the country from Gujrat.

The members of the District Flour Mills Association gathered at the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry where they staged a protest demonstration against the food department and the local administration for sealing the Zikriya Flour Mill and issuing a warning to the Burhan Flour Mill.

Later, addressing a conference, District Flour Mills Association President Nawaz Butt, Iftikhar Ahmed Mattu, Haji Liaqat Charh, Ahmed Hassan Mutto and others condemned the action, wondering how a flour mills could be charged with hoarding of wheat when the mills across the district were already running out of wheat stocks.

They said there were hardly 6,000 bags of wheat stock left for at least 26 mills of the district and the amount was not enough to continue crushing of wheat for flour production for the next couple of days. They warned that...
