Mayor backs plan for afforestation in city.

KARACHI -- Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Member of the National Assembly and Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change Rukhsana Naveed on Monday sought cooperation of Mayor Wasim Akhtar in the Prime Minister's Billion Tree Project.

Ms Naveed, who met the mayor at his office, told Mr Akhtar that trees were being planted across the country under the project and asked him to extend his cooperation to effectively execute the tree plantation campaign in Karachi. The mayor assured the lawmaker of full cooperation for the betterment and uplift of the city.

Later, the PTI MNA and the mayor visited the iconic Bagh Ibne Qasim.

Mr Akhtar told her that the municipal administration was making all-out efforts for the beautification of the city and for providing better recreational facilities by renovating the city's parks.
