PESHAWAR -- Speakers at a two-day national conference, which began here at Islamia College University on Saturday, paid tributes to Maulana Syed Maududi and said that he was a great scholar of international repute who had devoted his entire life to reshaping the Islamic thought and philosophy through his untiring efforts.

The participants were of the view that Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maududi was a revivalist and reformer. They said that Maududi's thoughts would remain a guiding candle for the Muslims all over the world because his vision was beyond region and time-tested.

Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT), university chapter, has organised the two-day conference at Khyber Union Hall of Islamia College, Peshawar. Students, faculty members, IJT activists and scholars attended the event. Three sessions were conducted in which lectures were delivered on various aspects of life, political struggle and Islamic contributions of Syed Maududi.

Inaugurating the first day's sessions, KP deputy chief of Jamaat-i-Islami MPA Inayatullah Khan said that the Muslims across the world had benefited from Syed Maududi's scholarship and thoughts. He said that his ideas were time-tested and relevant in every age because he believed in gradual change and wanted to do away with the existing system.
